Merry Christmas!

Wow, another month is gone! I can’t remember the last time time flew by so quickly. I’m left sitting here wondering where it went, what did I do?! Crazy!

The last time I left you we were getting ready to open Lifeline. It went spectacularly thanks to the Lord’s provision. Opening night one of the cast members (show below in blue in the throne room) was up all night and day too sick to come to school or perform, poor thing. She played multiple roles throughout the show. The director was able to step into one, the director’s 12 year old daughter who happened to be on stage crew was able to step into another, remember blocking and recite lines without a script. Truly incredible. Fire threatened to get out of control and I had my first experience with a fire extinguisher, but it never affected the performance and Rahab’s baal burned like crazy just as it should. oh yes, amazing. As you can tell, our space is wonderful and we don’t mess around with costumes here at Faith Academy. the Philippines agrees with theatre 😉

One of the perils of being so involved on stage means foregoing being a photographer for such things 🙁 sad day. So many trades to love. Below are 2 photos taken by others of our 2 sets: Jericho’s throne room and Rahab’s house.

We’ve also had multiple Christmas concerts by our music department, Talent night audtions and the beginning preparations for Outdoor Ed in early Feb. For those of you who are friends of the Beach you’ll see new publications are starting to spring up, new camp dates announced, registration opening. Oh yes, thhhhaaat’s where my month went! Now, I remember. haha!

Since break began last friday there have been many Christmas preparations, shopping, wrapping, etc. It’s such a fun time, but I’ll admit it doesn’t feel like Christmas without the cold. Not that I’m saying I miss Ohio weather, just to be clear! We’re also working on early Annie preparations, lesson planning (EEP) and having adventures. For the last 10 weeks Sam and I have had a 3rd roommate, Sarah. She was student teaching in the music department.

On the night she left we went to the lantern festival at the university of the philippines. Thirty-four participants from various colleges, degree granting units and student organizations paraded their gigantic, colorful and creatively-done lanterns around the academic oval. In keeping with the theme Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran, Kasaganaan, (peace, progress, abundance) the participants used their creative juices and resourcefulness to create magnificent lanterns out of materials such as used bottles, old CDs, used boxes, Christmas lights, mobiles, etc. I only had dory with me and she doesn’t do so well with night photos. Here are a few though. 🙂
